AHS on-call archaeologists, at your service!
Did you know that AHS offers an on-call archaeology service? That’s right, we have experienced archaeologists available around the clock, for those times that you come across something unexpected during excavation, construction or even when surveying a project.
At AHS, we understand that your project runs around the clock, and sometimes waiting to undertake archaeological work during ‘business hours’ can slow or even halt your progress.
So, what happens when an unexpected artefact or a site of potential archaeological significance is unearthed? Professional and timely archaeological assessment is critical!
This is where AHS can help, stepping in as your partner in analysing, interpreting, and managing the potential compliance obligations of unforeseen heritage discoveries. This is particularly important when works can’t be ‘paused’ and immediate advice is required.
Recently, one of our AHS archaeologists, Finn Tobin, inspected some archaeological features uncovered during trenching works in Brisbane’s CBD.
Finn attended the site after dark, analysing a brick feature that was discovered during ground disturbing works.
As busy Brisbane streets are difficult to shut down during the day, works often occur at night outside of business hours. In this case, AHS was able to undertake the after-hours work to assist in managing the discovery and relevant compliance obligations.
The AHS team has offered around-the-clock on-call services for countless major projects including Brisbane Street works, Naldham House in Brisbane’s CBD, Cairns Court House Gallery project in Cairns, and even the ongoing work at the Grandview Hotel in Cleveland.
Our on-call archaeology service ensures that you’re covered every step of the way, with experienced archaeologists ready to help progress your project while adhering to best-practice heritage guidelines and relevant legislative requirements.
We’ll assist throughout the process from end to end, starting with initial identification, surveying, and recording, to detailed excavation, a management plan for implementation, and liaison with State or local government departments on your behalf. It’s all part of the AHS difference, offering you peace of mind for the life of your project.
